The edition concluded the K-1 Fight Week this Saturday, the 24th, at the Arena BRB Nilson Nelson in Brasília; Ariel won three fights, including a battle with Guto Inocente, and will be the Brazilian representative in the World GP in December in Japan.

The K-1 Fight Week concluded in grand style on the night of this Saturday, August 24, at the Arena BRB Nilson Nelson in Brasília. The special edition of K-1 Brazil crowned Ariel Machado with the Absolute Weight GP trophy after three outstanding performances. He defeated Abner Ferreira, Guto Inocente, and Jhonny Klever to secure the position of Brazilian representative at the World GP in December in Japan. Another highlight of the night was Petros Cabelinho's victory over André Martins, maintaining the WGP Kickboxing welterweight title. Other highlights from the main card included Teodoro Ruiz's triumph over Cabelo Monteiro and the Argentine Facu Suarez's win against Renzo Martinez. The event wrapped up a special week that began with WGP 77, included seminars with legends of the sport, and culminated with this historic edition of K-1 Brazil.

Ariel Machado wins three fights, earns GP trophy, and a spot to fight in the World GP in Japan

The Absolute Weight GP was the main attraction of K-1 Brazil. In the quarterfinals of the Absolute Weight GP, the two favorite athletes passed the first phase with ease. Ariel Machado knocked out Abner Ferreira in the second round after dominating the fight, and Guto Inocente didn’t break a sweat winning against Jefferson Salviano also by knockout in less than a minute of the first round. On the other side, Wesley Cottas asserted himself against Haime Morais and dominated all three rounds to win by unanimous decision, while in the clash between Anderson Braddock and Jhonny Klever, the former used his experience to achieve victory by split decision after a very exhausting duel.

In the semifinals, two wars. First, the most anticipated clash of this GP between Guto Inocente and Ariel Machado was the best fight of the night. With great intensity, aggression, and technique, both raised the spirits of the audience present. Ariel started better and managed a knockdown in the first round, which shook Guto and frustrated the Brasília crowd. With a big heart, Guto still recovered and grew during the fight, but it wasn't enough as Machado secured his place in the final by unanimous decision. On the other side, Anderson Braddock faced Wesley Cotta and once again used his experience to control the match. In the third round, he scored a knockdown ensuring his victory, but both got injured during the fight, and as Guto Inocente, the natural substitute, had already been defeated by Ariel, it was Jhonny Klever who advanced to the final, having been defeated by Braddock in the quarterfinals.

In the grand final, Ariel Machado entered as the clear favorite against Jhonny. And he made it count. With a well-aligned strategy and a lot of aggression, he completely dominated the fight and secured a knockout in the third round, claiming the Absolute Weight GP trophy and ensuring his role as the Brazilian representative at the World GP in December in Japan.

Petros Cabelinho wins with authority and retains WGP title

The co-main event of K-1 Brazil also featured a great moment of the night. Petros Cabelinho, the current welterweight champion of the WGP, put his title on the line against André Martins. And the titleholder made his champion's status count. With an impressive pace, he dominated the duel from the start and after achieving a knockdown in the second round, pressed further and delivered a knockout to become the winner and maintain the WGP title.

In a great international match, the WGP lightweight champion Cabelo Monteiro faced the Paraguayan Teodoro Ruiz. And the fight was marked by balance, with both athletes alternating good moments. After three intense rounds, Teodoro emerged victorious by split decision, celebrating his win over the WGP champion. Another international bout between Argentine Facu Suarez and Renzo Martinez also thrilled the audience present in Brasília. With a great performance, the Argentine was better throughout the three rounds and, with an advantage in scoring due to Renzo not making weight, he took the victory comfortably.

In the preliminaries of K-1 Brazil, four fights opened the card in grand style. The big highlight was the Dutchman Sakvan Arab, who had none other than Semmy Schilt in his corner. He defeated Bruno Perna by knockout in the second round after a strong performance. Cicero Evangelista and Lany Silva also performed admirably by defeating Edson Panico and Lucia Apgalderim by split decision, respectively. The fight between Marcos Carvalho and Lucas Rafael, the most anticipated of the preliminaries, ended in a true anti-climax after Lucas injured his nose, and the doctors prevented him from continuing in the fight.
