WGP Studio 4: Cabelo Monteiro wins the battle against Teodoro Ruiz and retains the lightweight championship.

The night of this Sunday, November 24, was historic for WGP Kickboxing. The fourth edition of the Studio series delivered a high-level event, with real battles and a lot of emotion. In the main fight of the night, champion Cabelo Monteiro retained the title against Teodoro Ruiz by unanimous decision in an exciting turnaround. Also performing well was Edgar Boca, who defeated Fernando Mineiro by unanimous decision and Gustavo Filhote by knockout to earn the Challenger GP trophy and the position of challenger for the lightweight title, to face Cabelo Monteiro himself in the future. Another highlight of the night was Jones Coliseu, who beat Argentine Enzo Sanchez by unanimous decision in a great fight. WGP Studio 4 was the last WGP event of 2024, which returns next season with much more excitement.

The most anticipated match of the night lived up to expectations. The duel was a rematch since Paraguayan Teodoro Ruiz had beaten Cabelo Monteiro at the special K-1 Brazil edition in August of this year. Because of this history, the Brazilian champion of the category came very motivated to avenge the loss. What was seen inside the ring was one of the best fights of the year at WGP. After starting better in the first two rounds, the challenger succumbed to the champion's powerful blows, especially the knee strikes, which ultimately decided the duel. And after five insane rounds, it was better for Cabelo Monteiro by unanimous decision.

Another highlight of the night was the victories of Edgar Boca, who defeated Fernando Mineiro and Gustavo Filhote to win the Challenger GP trophy in the lightweight category and the title of challenger against Cabelo Monteiro himself. In the first semifinal, Boca and Mineiro had a very balanced fight, which had to be decided in the extra round after a tie in the first three rounds. In the decisive three minutes, Boca managed two knockdowns and secured a spot in the final against Gustavo Filhote, who beat Paulo Sergipe by unanimous decision. In the grand final, Edgar Boca dominated the fight with Filhote and achieved a knockout in the second round to win the trophy and the spot for the championship.

The night also had three other international bouts, which heated up. In the clash between Brazil and Argentina, Jones Coliseu dominated all three rounds against Enzo Sanchez and took the victory by unanimous decision. In the two duels between Brazil and Chile, it was also better for the Brazilians. Mateus Machado faced Fabianno Ferreto after moving up a category and showed he could be a challenge in the division by being much superior to his opponent and winning unanimously. Catherine Tacone also had no problems overcoming Josefa Tellez by imposing her pace and winning by unanimous decision.

In the first two fights of the night, there was even more excitement. In the women's duel between Bia Oliveira and Brenda Ferreira, it was better for the former who won by knockout in the first round after Brenda’s withdrawal. In the fight between Jackson Elitelmo and Marcos Gabriel, it was better for Jackson, who showed more fighting spirit and won by unanimous decision.
